Brief description of the Centre/Research Group (including URL if applicable):

The Research Group HUM 653 initiates its activity in 1999, with the name Educación Física y Deportes, made up just by professors of Physical Education and Sports. Some years later the group acquires a new name, Aspectos Multiculturales e Interdisciplinares de la Educación. Actividad física, música y bellas artes (AMIE), integrating other areas of knowledge.

The group is located in the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences of Education, and has access to students of the Bachelor’s degree of Primary and Early Education (Physical Education and Music specialisation), and from the Master in Secondary School Education.

Currently, innovation and interdisciplinarity are a priority in the academic training of the future teachers. It is for that reason the Group takes an essentially an educational direction, changing its name to Innovación didáctica en actividad física (IDAF), integrating the research fields and approaches detailed in the next section. Everything is orientated to the design of educational strategies and resources.

The researchers of this Group belong to the departments of Didactics of Body Language and Music from the universities of Jaén, Córdoba, Granada and Málaga, including also researcher from other educational levels.

The Group supports educational innovative activities as the Jornadas de Innovación docente e investigación educativa, taking part every year framed in the Master in Secondary School Education, and the publications of the papers generated by the different researches as well.

Project description:

The main research lines of the Group are:

Didactics of the Physical Education and Sport. Physical condition, health, spare time and recreation, games, traditional sports and alternatives, individual and collectives, body language, physical activities accompanied by music, motor tales and special education.

Educational innovations and interdisciplinarity. The Group works on the newest methodologies that implicates the population in its practice and in the sociological connotations.

Physical Activity and Genre. From the perspective of the evolution and innovation.

History of the Physical Activity. Works related to the History of the Physical Activity with the women, the music and the fascism.

Music and movement. Made up by researchers of Music and Physical Education. It is very important for the rhythmic and leisure aspects of movement, and it complements the innovation activities.

In all the three precedent lines the Group collaborates with teachers of Music Didactic from a research group of the University of Granada.

Jazz and Flamenco. Music genres attractive for the educational, leisure and social fields. This line is developed between the University of Jaén and the University of Málaga.

Through these lines the Group reaches research in different aspects of the Physical activity, beginning from the specific didactic, main priority in a Faculty of Education. Also, being aware of the overweight problem in the contemporary society, this Group has as a fundamental objective to perform interventions in Educative Centres with programs of physical activity of moderate intensity, seeking to mitigate the sedentary lifestyle and the bad diet habits of the students, and motivate them to a later regular physical practice.
